Below are some of our favorites. Buckalews More than just a tavern. Bucks has plenty of seafood and land options something for everyone and they serve late (email hidden). 5 blocks north of house on LBI blvd. (website hidden) Black Whale (formerly Romeos) Good, creative food for dinner. They always have multiple fresh fish choices and enough land-based options to keep everyone happy. There is ALWAYS a wait, so go early. The bar is a nice place to have a drink, but they dont have the full dinner menu, mostly bar type food. I do miss Romeos linguini and white clam sauce.. sigh................. (website hidden) Harvey Cedars Clam Bar doesn't get any better than this on LBI. Old school clam bar where you belly up to a horseshoe shaped bar, the nice young ladies will shuck fresh clams and oysters right in front of you (everything is on ice on display) always fresh, friendly and its BYOB! They have large tubs of ice water to store your beer/wine. They also have a good menu of cooked foods. Personal favorites are the cooked scallop melt, which is cooked scallops covered in cheese and bacon pretty much a heart attack on a plate, but s(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) good you'll order it every time (we do) goes fantastic with a cold beer. The menu is kid friendly with lots of fried things and when we are feeling healthy I order the seared tuna sandwich (about $9) with fries. Ask for the horseradish sauce for an extra kick. Really can't beat this place for value. NOTE: There is always a wait for dinner go early put your name on the chalkboard and wait for you name. Centre Street bay-side- 6 blocks from house, BYOB (website hidden)_new.html Stefanos - Our new current FAV!!! Excellent seafood - the fish chowder is excellent, and their white clam chowda is an award winner (Eileen and I usually get 1 of each to share), order anything with Risotta (we usually get the seafood risotto -delicious), the portions are very large and one meal could feed 2 people. (they have a "sharing" charge if you only order 1 entree for 2 people). Hands down, the BEST linguini and white clam sauce on the island. Careful of the dessert tray - you'll want everything. Peanut butter pie is our fav. When we have the entire family down for vacation (12 people) - we order the Bucket of Linguini and White Clam sauce ($40+-). It feeds the entire crew with leftovers (if you ask nicely they will add extra clams for the kids). This is the best deal on the island. BYOB. 20th and the boulevard. Parkers Garage (the old Boat House Restaurant - holds a special place for us as we had our wedding celebration at the Boat House) - we haven't been to the new restaurant yet - looks nice, good menu. about 8 block walk from house. Bayfront and Dock Road. BYOB, (website hidden) Pearl Street Market Gourmet deli on the corner of Pearl and LBI Boulevard. Slightly above average in price, but fresh and tasty everytime. They also have a seafood market with lobster tank and a decent selection of gourmet cheeses. (website hidden) Barrys Do Me a Flavor How do you like your ice cream? How about a float?, or banana split?, soft-serve?, cone? take your pick. These guys have all the flavors, kids love it and nothing beats ice-cream on a hot summer night. 4 blocks from Pearl street Brainfreeze Icecream on Center street- the bagel guy finally expanded his operation to include ice cream. Good selection, and only 2 blocks from the house on center st Surf City Fishery - My newest and now favorite place to buy fresh shellfish on LBI. Please stop in for a visit. The 2 owners (brothers), are always helpful, honest and a pleasure to do business with. They will even pre-pack/hold your order if you call ahead. They have the best prices on shellfish - I always pick up a few dozen littlenecks and topnecks on my visit. Location: They are located immediately after you make the right hand turn onto LBI in Surf City. Look for their sign after you make the right turn - it is ACROSS THE STREET. Stop by on your way down to Beach Haven - pick up a few dozen clams, it won't cost you many clams............ Surf City, about 7 miles north of Pearl Street, on the boulevard Tuckers - We really like the newly rebuilt Tuckers. Better menu for everyone (seafood and landlubbers), and the hidden secret is the outside back deck overlooking the bay. the deck is covered and is the perfect place for afternoon cocktails (excellent bloody marys), especially if it's raining. 5 blocks from the house on the bay Chicken or the Egg My favorite diner on LBI. Open 24 hours. They have an extensive diner menu, plenty of healthy options, and 10 varieties of wings. Kid friendly. 8 blocks from pearl street (website hidden) Beach Haven Fishery - 21st and the blvd. Decent seafood, eat in, take out or sit outside on the picnic tables. Prices been creeping up lately, But they're doing something right as they've been around for over 20 years! (website hidden) Ship Bottom Shellfish - Right off the causeway, this restaurant and seafood market is the only place you can can fried clams (bellys and all). Having spent 10 years in Bahston, I know fried clams. When I need a fix, Ship Bottom Shellfish has the closest thing to authentic New England fried clams. About 8 miles north of Pearl Street. Stop here first, then drive down to Beach Haven. Raimondos - June 2013 Update: Get anything with Risotto! (or seafood, or veal, or steak..) Had a delicious, perfectly cooked piece of Sea Bass over rock shrimp risotto - excellent flavors, succulent! (The pasta with mixed seafood, veal saltm, and other dishes also excellent) Long time favorite on LBI, always call ahead for reservations. We try to make it to Raimondos 2-3x a season. Raimondos is a fav because the chef will generally make you whatever you want, change the sauce on your dish (shallot/wine last visit - left me speechless) or serve you sausage and rabe that is not on the menu that nite. The quality of the food is outstanding, the flavors are excellent and the risotto left us weak in the knees on the last visit. Might seem a little costly, but portions are generous and one entree can easily feed 2 people. Call ahead and don't be afraid to ask them for a dish not on the menu, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Ship Bottom, 2 blocks south of the Causeway, about 8 miles north of Pearl St. BYOB (website hidden) Woodys Burgers - Pennsylvania Ave and the blvd, about 30 blocks up the blvd from Pearl STreet. The BEST burgers on LBI - cooked to perfection everytime, great food, great Value. I know i know - why would I buy a burger at the beach when I can grill my own? 3 words: Blue Cheese sauce! Woodys makes 'em great everytime and for $8 bones how can you go wrong??? Good sized burger AND fries, cooked to order for $8. They also have chicken for the healthy people out there......
