Lodge style home on 140 acres. Remote but close to much! Hot Tub, Pets
Our home and farm is very secluded and overlooks the KY River situated on the top of the Palisades. Minutes from Lexington, Keeneland, Shaker Village, Bluegrass Airport and the Bourbon Trail 5 bedrooms, vaulted ceilings, a 3000 SF home with screened porch and a hot tub. We have a good layout for wheelchairs and a portable wheelchair ramp if needed. Fire Pit, hot tub and hiking trails available. We use solar power for our energy needs! Our pond has no fish but we can direct u to a place to fish! We bought the farm in 1996 - the fulfillment of a dream of many years! We built our dream home in 1998 and believe the land is one of the most gorgeous locations in the Central KY area. We raised cattle and horses over the years. Now we are turning the farm back to nature as more and more of the surrounding land is being developed. There is a lot of wildlife around and numbers are increasing all the time. The house is very open with master bedroom on ground floor and 4 bedrooms upstairs, one in each corner of the house and a lofted den in the middle of the upstairs space. There are lots of windows that enable you feel Like the outdoors is an arms length away! Being near historic Shaker Village we have filled it with "Shaker" style furniture and primitive American decor. In 2022 we have converted to be 100% solar energy as conservation and sustainability is so important to us! Our most recent upgrade in January of 2024 was to enclose each upstairs bedroom with it's own private vaulted ceiling. You will have access to the whole home with the exception of a couple of "owners closets". There is a 46 foot long screened front porch that overlooks the farm and also 2 decks on the back. The area we keep mowed short as the “yard” is 3 acres and includes a fire pit. We don’t provide wood for bonfires but may use some of our wood at $1 per piece. You are welcome to walk up and down the scenic half mile driveway. With permission and a signed waiver we can arrange for you to use the hiking trails. A waiver needs to be signed as well for hot tub use. We have a property manager who is very close if needed. The home is the LAST home on a tiny lane just off a major hub to Lexington. It is super remote but also close to lots of things: Lexington, Shaker Village, many sites on The BOURBON Trail, historic Danville and Versailles, Keeneland Race Track and Sale Barns, Bluegrass Field Airport. All of these are within 30 minutes or less. The small town of Wilmore is 3 miles away. Wilmore is like Mayberry! Very quaint. There is an IGA grocery store, a SUBWAY sandwich shop and a very good take out Chinese restaurant, as well as a coffee shop called "Solomon's Porch" and a great ice cream/pizzeria called "The Local Confectionary". Nearby Nicholasville and Lexington have countless restaurants, groceries, etc. The house is NOT near public transportation. You would need a vehicle to stay here. In winter months consider 4WD in the event of snow. There is a 10% total for 3 different taxes we have to collect through airbnb and this is included in your quote. To get to the house, you drive through a creek bed that crosses the road. Usually the depth of water is from none (completely dry) to an inch or two. Don't let that frighten you!
